Testing: Letting go of past hurts

I am a Christian woman who loves the Lord. I am the administrator of my Playschool and Daycare Centre. I am involved in intercession at my local church.

Today, I would like to share my personal testimony of what God did in my life after I give over to Him something that I held in my heart against my husband for almost nineteen years. The Bible says that we ought to forgive each other. When I met my husband I did not know the Lord at that time. Anyway, during our courtship, he lied to me and I found him out. Believe it or not, I held that thing against him until God finally dealt with me and I had to be obedient to what the Holy Spirit had me to do.

During our courtship, I saw my husband with another woman. And from that day on, even after we were married every time I would see the young lady, I would become angry and start to say things to my husband that I know I should not say.

I remember one Sunday morning in church,that was after I gave my heart to the Lord, during worship, the Holy Spirit was present in our midst and as I try to reach out to God, I found that I was not getting no where. Then suddenly, I saw this young lady in the spirit and heard God say to me that I must call her and tell her that I have forgiven her.

Well well, I said Lord, do I really have to do that and the Holy Spirit said yes or else you will not be free to worship me. I obeyed and did just that. But, before I did that, I had to put away my pride. After I did that, I felt the presence and the peace of God came back to me.

1Peter 5:7 tells us that we must cast all our anxiety on Him because he cares for us. I could now see the lady and have no hard feeling towards her and even say hello to her and I have eventually forgiven my husband. I have learned that to get into the presence of the Lord, we will have to forgive all those who hurt us because we must worship God in spirit and in truth.
