suicide

about a year ago my dad committed suicide. all my life i have been taught that committing suicide like voids your walk with God and you automatically go to Hell? is that true?

I read your article and I was raised with the same belief that when one commits suicide he goes straight to hell. That bothered me because when you see a person with alzheimers disease (a person not in their right mind) where do they go? I believe your dad although he did not have alzheimers he was considered not in his right mind and I believe God judges that person what state he was in before his action to take his life. I have known a few people who took their lives because of depression or under medicines that caused them to take such an action so you can see they were not in their right mind. So I believe that God judges on what you were before one takes such an action and I believe your dad is in heaven if he was a christian. We all know God has the last call on all things and he is a just God and a fair God. So put your heart at rest and just trust God and give him thanks and praise and be in peace with it all.
