Mind Renovations


Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…”

  "Renewing your mind" is a hot topic in many Christian circles. But, did you know that the Greek word translated here as “renewal” actually means  RENOVATION. Paul was saying – “Hey! If you are serious about this whole ‘following Christ’ thing, you are gonna have to do some Mind Renovations!” And Paul wasn’t just talking about a little “redecorating.” You know, where you change a few things on the surface, but everything underneath really stays the same. You throw some floating floor on top of the dirty old linoleum in hopes that no one will ever notice. You patch up the holes in the walls, and just add a dab of touch up paint here and there. Jesus called it washing the outside of our cup (Matthew 23:25). We’ve all done it. But, that’s not a transformation…that’s a cover up!

The hard truth is, you can’t build something new on top of an old foundation. Decaying walls must be knocked down, musty carpet must be pulled up and outdated cabinets must be pried off the walls. This isn’t just true for home renovations, it’s true for renewing your mind and “Mind Renovations” too! YES God has some beautiful new things He wants to build in us. But, first there are some old mindsets, old habits and modern-day idols that need to be demolished!

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to *demolish* strongholds.“ - 2 Cor. 10:4 NIV

If you ever want to be truly free…Demo day is the only way!

When we do “Mind Renovations”,  things never stay neat and tidy. You may knock down some walls in your mind, only to find rats living inside. But, just remember, God is a master exterminator! Anything He reveals, He can also heal. Don’t be afraid of the dust and debris - it’s just a part of the renovation process. I promise, after all of the dust settles, what God rebuilds will be better and stronger than before.

The truth is…God loves you just the way you are. BUT, He also loves you too much to leave you that way. His divine power is available to knock down every wall and to demolish every stronghold in your life!
