Naomi Bible Study: Finding Hope

In our Naomi Bible study, we learn about how, when Naomi though all hope for her life was lost, God brought hope out of her hopelessness. Here is Donna's response to our Bible study on Naomi.
1. Have you ever felt like everything in your world was crumbling around you? Have there been times in your life when you've thought "The Lord Himself has raised His fist against me" (Ruth 1:13b NLT)?Yes, I found this site as this is EXACTLY what I am dealing with right now. I was feeling that God abandoned me just as all other men have --specifically my husbands, childrens' fathers, and my biological father.
2. Why do you think that even though Naomi was bringing Ruth home with her, she felt that she was coming home empty? What can we learn from her incorrect assumption?Naomi hurt so badly that emptiness was all that she was --she'd nothing to give to Ruth. We should learn never to depend on or respond to our emotions when we deal with pains of lost and loneliness. Especially when we need to make a decision during that time. If not careful we will make the decision based on our state of mind "at the time" which can be a decision of serious error.
3. Why do you think it is significant that Naomi was not just blessed with a grandson, but an ancestor of Christ? What does that tell us about what happens when God restores us?It is significant in that God established His restorative power here....it is a story that gives amazing hope and confidence that we not only survive or pain, but conquer it!
4. Based on what you've learned in this Bible study on Naomi, what legacy would you say that she has left for us as women of God?She left a legacy of God's presence when we it seems we are absolutely alone, she left a legacy of recovering when all seemed desolate and destroyed, she left a journey of the victory tour when it seemed the race was beyond losts.
