Here is Kathy's response to our lesson on Speaking in Tongues.

If you are filled with the Holy Spirit there should be fruit that is evident in your life, and definite life change that people can clearly see.

I believe in speaking in tongues, but I was only used to a Baptist church and they say it could be from the devil, and that scared me. But ever since I got saved, i desired it. I now go to a church that embraces the gifts, but it is soooo hard for me to recieve the speaking in tongues. I feel like I just say the same words over and over and they seem to just repeat themselves and I never Feel anything, and it seems that those around me feel something a lot. So i feel like I walk around feeling a lot of lack, and I keep begging God to flood me with His Holy Spirit and give him full permission to over power me, I want it that bad. I get sooo frustrated that i get depressed about it, especially when I see all these people around me flowing in tongues and I know they aren't faking it.

Speak for truth

The gift of tongues was given to a group of people to speak the truth of Jesus the Messiah to a great group of people coming from different languages. The disciples did not speak in strange tongues. They spoke in their own language they were used to speaking on daily basis. The people heard the speaking in their own language. The speaking was for edifying the church.
Satan's demons can create a false impression upon your mind that what your experiencing is of God. Demons speak confusion.
Also if you have to try to speak or have to be taught to speak by rambling words, than it is NOT gift of Spirit. Spirit decides who gets gifts and when and under what circumstances. It would be you speaking confusion. God is God of understanding NOT of confusion.
Flee and study the Bible.

Don't feel bad I feel frustrated too. You have to believe though that God is sincere and loving and is there with you. For me I know I'm too self conscious with it, I feel his spirit upon me and I feel the words I guess you would say and I start questioning it. Just afraid I'm gonna mess it up which is stupid I guess. Someone told me when a baby begins to speak it will simply begin by shouting 'mamma'. so start by shouting father almost like your trying to get his attention. That's my simple truth, it's in his word, and he is the living God who saved me and I know he loves me.

i SEEMS TO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM REPEATING MY WORDS OVER AND OVER AND NOTHING SEEMS TO MAKE ANY SINCE TO ME.i WAS ATTENDING A CHURCH i FELT LIKE i WAS GOING NOWHERE,WITH NOBODY TO TALK WITH IT SEEMS AS THROUGH WHEN IT WAS TIME TO PAY OFFERING THE OLDER LADIES IN THE CHURCH WOULD LOOK AT YOU UP AND DOWN LIKE THEY WERE MORE HOLY THAN YOU.SO I STARTED GOING TO ANOTHER CHURCH WHERE THEY TAP INTO AND BELIEVE IN THE GLORY OF GOD.I HAD STOPPED SPEAKING IN TONGUES UNTIL ONE DAY WHILE ATTENDING CHURCH I STARTED LOOKING AT PEOPLE HOW THEY WERE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT OF GOD RUNNING AND CRYING,JUMPING.I WAS LIKE IS THIS REAL,SO I PRAYED ASKING GOD TO FILL ME WITH HIS SPIRIT AND HE DID JUST AT THAT MOMENT I WAS SPEAKING SHOUTING CRYING IT WAS LIKE ALL TRUTH WAS REVEILED TO ME.MY EYES WERE OPEN TO THE SPIRIT OF GOD AND I WAS HAPPY, IT FELT AS IF A HEAVY LOAD WAS LIFTED UP OFF OF ME.THE PRESENCE OF GOD WAS UPON ME AND I FELT HIM AND THE LOVE HE HAD FOR ME.

Speaking In Tongues

Hello Kathy,

I always wanted to speak in tongues. So I practised every day trying.

One day when I was trying to speak in tongues I felt and heard this strange voice comming out of my mouth. I stopped speaking almost immediately. Since then I have not been able to speak like that again. Was that voice from God or?

Speaking in tongues is for every believer, Paul said I would that ye all spake with tongues (1 Corin 14:5) It's God's desire for all to worship him in spirit and in truth(John 4:4) Praying in tongues is perfect prayer (1 Corin 14:14). The holy spirit is a gift, speaking tongues is a manifestation of that gift for the church to profit (1 Cor. 12:7)It's your gift, you believe or choose to use it. God does not talk through people, that would be possesion. You move your lips your vocal chords and speak the wonerful works of God (Acts 2:11)

Speaking in Tongues

Hello Kathy, I was born-again at a presbyterian church who are against "tongues" so I did not believe in it. However, one day I was walking outside praying to God, my mouth started praying kind of by itself to God and I was listening. Now I realize that the Holy Spirit was praying through me in English. After that I still did not believe in tongues, I just thought that I had a Spirit-prayer for some reason. But a few years later, a time came when I felt demonic spirits say to me "We're back" (When I accepted Christ a few years earlier I had seen about 6 or 8 little "lights" in my head rushing around in circles and they shrieked and left my body. I had heard them shriek in my mind somehow) So I felt in my spirit that they were coming back so I started praising God knowing that nothing can defeat me while I'm praising. The demons had to flee and I felt incredible praise-power. Not long after that I was praising God/Jesus in my bed and fell asleep praising and I felt a strong wind hitting my face, I immediately got up and had to got to work, but for the next 8 hours or so my face felt like it had been sand-blasted as if I had been at the beach all day getting hit with that beach-wind. Then I finally started reading Christian books about the power of praise; books that I had earlier thought were foolish charismatic/pentecostal books. Needless to say, I began attending a Charismatic church and started praying in tongues. Well that was in 1990 and I'm still praising in English and in tongues. I hope that helps. I will say that at the times that I am praising God and I really know that He is right in the room with me, I instantly start tongues-it just happens. Hard Times Speaking In Tougues

Hi Kathy
I've been through the place you're in now and that's why I always encourage others to stay in God's word.So you can learn the truth for yourself.Speaking in tongues is a gift that the Spirit of God has given to a person of his choosing and so are all the gifts of the Spirit,please read 1 Corinthians 12:1~ 2 Corinthians 14:1~29 these books in Corinthians will give you a clear picture to your questions.I to use to get all excited about speaking in Tongues until I got in the word and found out for myself,that those who are just out there speaking in Tongues like that are just really showing off, and really not being obedient to God at all for God has given control and God always does things in Order. For God is not about causing confusion at all.So please read those chapters and pray for God to give you His good understanding of His word,and He will for He called you to be His and He loves you.
