It is your guide to putting yourself before your Potter. To making yourself available to be molded into the person He originally created you to be.
Even if you were raised a devout
Christian, you still had to make a personal decision to follow Jesus
for yourself.
And, instantly, when you made that decision, you were "... raised with Christ to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead" (Colossians 3: 1 AMP).
But, how different is this new life really
supposed to look?
Where do most of your thoughts dwell? On things of this earthly realm, or on things of eternal value?
In this temporal world, we can sometimes get so bogged down in the day to day that we forget there is more to our lives than that. Not only has God stored up "rich eternal treasures" for us in heaven, but, as far as this world is concerned, we've already died!
Now that is something that can really bake your noodle as they say.
All of the things that we spend most of our lives worrying about don't even matter! Our real life is actually "hidden with Christ in God." Think about that.
God thinks that you are so precious, that He has hidden your life. What better place to hide from the troubles of this world than inside of God Himself?
Christ is your new life. Paul said it this way:
We no longer have to focus on this temporal world. You can begin to have an eternal focus because God's plan for you is eternal.
But, what does God ask us to do in
response to this great honor? Find that out in Lesson
2 of your Bible Study on Colossians.
